                                                Vaccine Schedules
       Puppies
  • ​​​6 weeks: DA2PP
  • 9 weeks: DA2PP Booster
  • 12 weeks: DA2PPL
  • 15 weeks: DA2PPL Booster, Rabies and Bordetella (if needed)

       
​         Kittens
  • 6 weeks: FVRCP
  • 9 weeks: FVRCP Booster
  • 12 weeks: FVRCP + Leukemia (if needed), Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDs test
  • 15 weeks: FVRCP + Leukemia booster (if needed), Rabies
                                          Spaying and Neutering
  • Recommended age is at least 6 months of age 
  • Helps reduce the risk of prostate, testicular and ovarian cancers
  • Reduces risk of mammary tumors
  • Eliminates risk of pyometra in female dogs
  • Recovery time varies- but your dog or cat is usually back to normal within 10-14 days. ​

Microchipping
  • Microchipping can be done at any age. 
  • For puppies and kittens, we recommend microchipping your pet during their spay/neuter procedure while they are under anesthesia.

                                  Flea and Heartworm Prevention
  • All pets 6 weeks and older should be started on heartworm prevention and pets 8 weeks and older should be started on flea prevention.  
  • For maximum effectiveness, flea and heartworm prevention needs to be given monthly. 
  • Because these medications are prescription, all pets need to have a current exam on file in order to be dispensed. 
                                          Allergies in Savannah
Just like people, your dog or cat can experience year-round allergies in Savannah. Signs of allergic dermatitis are:
  • itching
  • scratching
  • licking feet
  • redness of the feet and abdomen
If your pet is experiencing any of the above symptoms, you should contact your vet to see about prescribing the appropriate medications.
